The winery is located in Buttrio, 12 kilometres south of Udine, in the district of the Colli Orientali del Friuli, a land of gently rolling hills known for its superior wines. The Estate unfolds across 110 hectares, nearly all covered with vineyards, that has belonged to the family for more than 500 years. The ancient records filed in the family archives contain many interesting references such as how in 1140, ten Buttrio farming contracts were donated to a Benedictine monastery so that the monks could make wine and oil. Until just a few years, the Estate still held another ten contracts. The Estate uses only grapes produced from their vines; 70% of which are vines grown in the vineyards from selected cloning. These vines are therefore perfectly suited to the environment and produce truly typical wines. A great wine can, of course, only come from a great vineyard.
