The recent earthquake in Chile, one of the strongest recorded in history, left a devastating mark on a country that knows quakes well. Chilean President Michelle Bachelet called the damage caused by the 8.8 magnitude quake “an emergency unparalleled in the history of Chile.”
Having reached over 700, the death toll would grow in the days ahead. The National Office of Emergency estimates the number of displaced people at two million.
As owner and founder of the largest Chilean wine importers based in the United States, Alex Guarachi of TGIC Importers vows to help the Chilean families by pledging $50,000 along with this special pledge from TGIC:
TGIC Importers, Inc. will donate another $50,000 from proceeds of the sale of every bottle of Montes and Santa Ema wines sold during the months of March, April, and May. This donation will go to a nonprofit organization currently involved in the Chile relief effort.
